Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s father, Donald Blinken, a former U.S. diplomat, investment banker and modern art collector, has died
The NEW YORK Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s father, Donald, a former U.S. diplomat,modern art collector and investment banker, died on Thursday. At age 96.
This was announced by BLINKEN via his Twitter handle, he did this in series of Tweets while he was attending the yearly UN General Assembly.
In his tweet BLINKEN wrote
“My family lost a parent and grandparent, a source of love and inspiration — my father Donald Blinken,”
“A member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, a U.S. ambassador, president of the Mark Rothko Foundation, (chairman of the board) of the State University of New York, dad served his city, state and country,” Blinken added.
Donald Blinken was said to died peacefully at his home in East Hampton, Long Island. This was said be a State Department official.
“My Dad inspired me to public service,” Blinken tweet. “He lived with decency, modesty and dignity. He loved his wife Vera and his family. He built a wonderful life and gave me a meaningful life. I love you dad.”
Due to his father deteriorating medical condition, Antony Blinken is said to cancelled several events he was to attend at the UN General Assembly On Tuesday and his schedule there on Friday will be adjusted to account for family commitments, the State Department official said.

Donald Blinken served as the chairman of the State University of New York system from year 1978 to year 1990 and he was U.S. Ambassador to Hungary from year 1994 to 1997, during the Clinton administration.
